What do waterproof matches do?
I think waterproof matches are something we’ve all heard of, but none of us have ever actually seen or needed them (those of us who have needed them are probably dead, because I can’t find them anywhere, and you really only need them in emergencies).
I’m guessing waterproof matches are nothing more than matches capable of lighting after being wet, but that still seems a bit “off” to me. I don’t think this is the most precise name given the function they provide.
When I think “waterproof,” I think “unaffected by water,” or “works in water,” but not “works after having touched water.”
Waterproof matches should light while immersed in water. Of course, this is a ridiculously idiotic idea considering it could never work due to very basic science, but the point that I’m making is this—they shouldn’t be called “waterproof” matches.
Windproof lighters light up IN THE WIND, not AFTER HAVING COME IN CONTACT WITH WIND.
I don’t care what you call waterproof matches—just don’t call them “waterproof matches.”
Maybe “water-friendly matches.” Yeah—that could work.
