Why are children scolded for sticking their tongue out at each other offensively?

Adults act like sticking your tongue out angrily is the equivalent to dropping 5 F-bombs in rapid succession.

It’s a tongue, damn it. What does it even mean? It’s not like the middle finger (and even then—what the hell is the middle finger?).

You’re not going to do any damage with your tongue. It’s impossible. With a middle finger, you could try to claw after someone’s eyes—can’t do that with a tongue.

We need to decriminalize angry tongue gestures.

Sticking your tongue out at somebody is the PERFECT way to establish dismay of his/her behavior without escalating the situation.

It’s deliberate and bold, but not menacing.

Until next time,
