Today, there was a tool on the subway.

Not a literal tool, but rather a person who was acting like a total tool.

Bear in mind, this takes place during rush hour in the most crowded subway station in Brooklyn.

When I walked on the subway, I noticed immediately how crowded it was. People took to standing—not an uncommon thing given the size of the crowd.

Unfortunately, I then noticed a woman, maybe in her late 20s, sitting on the seat with her feet sprawled out across (not only one, but) two full seats next to her.

Now, if she were homeless, I wouldn’t even care. But she was very clearly NOT homeless and keeping her feet up only to prevent strangers from sitting next to her.

Given different circumstances, such as if there were an elderly or disabled person standing, I would’ve told her to move her stupid boots out of the way so they could sit down, and then I’d continue standing myself, because I’m a martyr for righteousness.

Today, there were no elderly or disabled, but only a chance of myself ending up on a viral video that started seconds after an honest attempt at compromise with a selfish stranger.

I’ve always been a proud supporter of non-aggressive comedy, particularly using words that aren’t swear words, and I’m going to try to continue following the guidelines I’ve set for myself. Having said that, I really hope this woman experiences some major sadness in her life over the next few weeks, whatever that may entail.

It doesn’t have to be fatal, because that’d be a bit much. I’d prefer that she find herself in a brutally uncomfortable social situation. Like, if she were to get in a cab for a super long ride from Coney Island to the Bronx, realize she forgot her wallet at home halfway through the ride, and then spend the rest of the ride wondering how she’s going to have the awkward conversation with the driver after he stops the meter.

I guess this wouldn’t be experiencing a major sadness as much as having a crappy day.

I should’ve been clearer, I guess.

Until next time,
