I like to desensitize myself to things.

I think this is the best way to be prepared for the worst-case scenario in every possible situation.

So, I hold my breath unnecessarily on a regular basis to increase my lung capacity (you never know when it’s going to come in handy, but when it does, I’ll be ready).

I use low-grit sandpaper on my hands. This way, I have absolutely no sensation in my hand skin. My hands are basically 2 giant calluses, preventing me from feeling hot or cold, or any pain, such as scratches or papercuts (I would feel broken bones, though—can’t use sandpaper on those). You never know when this is going to be useful, but it might be someday.

Also, I hold it when I need to use the restroom. My bladder has probably quadrupled in size. I can drink a few gallons of water before I even begin to feel the urge to urinate (yeah, that’s right).

I basically don’t feel anything anymore, so kidnappers wouldn’t be able to hurt me if they tried.

I guess I’m doing all these things in preparation for the unlikely situation where a kidnapper selects me, a 6’7 man, as his/her prey, but despite the odds, I’ll always be prepared.

Until next time,
