I don’t know how I haven’t mentioned this yet, but my New Year’s Resolution for 2019 has been to write only with my left hand.

I figured this would force me to appreciate my right hand more, but it’s actually just made me hate my left hand more—not that I “hated” my left hand before this experiment, but I certainly could’ve gone without it.

Of course, I have mixed-dominance (though I’m pretty sure I’m straight up ambidextrous, because I can write equally quickly and equally neatly with my left hand—I just haven’t had as much practice as with my right one), which attributes at least some value, however minimal, to my left hand.

I was taught to write and throw righty, but I have equal strength in the left, so if I were to practice a bit more with my left, I could perform any action with either hand. Going forward, I could decide, on the spot, whichever hand is more convenient on a case-by-case basis.

Anyway, though I’m just as capable of writing lefty as I am righty, it just doesn’t feel as NORMAL yet, because I’m not as used to it.

My New Year’s Resolution NEXT year will be to only see things using my left eye.

I’m not going to walk around with an eye-patch on my right eye, lest people think I’m a disabled war veteran (I don’t deserve that respect), so it’s just going to be on the honor system, I suppose. I’ll just try to make my right eye become lazy and eventually become “naturally blind” over the course of the year.

I’m not sure how well this will go, but there’s only one way to find out, so… balls to the wall, I guess.

Until next time,
