A bunch of years ago on this day, the Founding Fathers signed a piece of paper that declared their independence from England.

Every year since then, England’s fathers (this includes all living men in England who have ever fathered a child) have signed a piece of paper declaring England’s independence from the United States. This serves as a sort of “who needs you anyway” type document.

Every year, it’s tradition for the President of the United States to feed this document from England to the turkey that he pardoned on Thanksgiving (Americans love to double-down on traditions whenever possible). Then, that turkey is able to lay eggs, which are hidden around the White House on Easter for children to enjoy an Easter-egg hunt (another example of Americans intermingling traditions).

Until next time,
