Lately, I’ve been really insulting the concept of “art” quite a bit on here.
Here’s the thing—music is art. I have no problem with that.
Once you start talking about post-modernist artists like Andy Warhol, however—eh… I’m not so sure.
You know, he once ate a hamburger from Burger King on film, and that’s being played on repeat at the Whitney Museum right now. In what way is this “art?” If you claim to take anything away emotionally from a piece like this, you’re either sleep deprived or lying, but those are the only two possibilities.
And what about abstract? What the hell is that?
Who decides what qualifies as “good” or “bad” abstract? It’s all crap!
