It’s fascinating how differently we perceive ourselves in relation to how others perceive us.
I find that people typically value each other much more highly than they value themselves.
Having acknowledged that, can we really even carry an objective value? Given the fact that everything we can possibly know about is relative to other things, we can’t have objective value, right?
But I digress. That’s a topic for another day.
Why can’t people value themselves as highly as other people value them? The general population, I believe, would be much happier if we didn’t judge ourselves so harshly.
It’s funny—you can make an entire roomful of people erupt in laughter, but still disappoint yourself.
As I write this, I’m realizing that I have no way to pivot this stream of consciousness into something funnier and more lighthearted.
We’re at a crossroads here. I have about 4 possibilities at this point. I can:
A. embrace the topic that we’ve gone with, despite the fact that its theme is darker than that typical to The Daily Clot
B. clumsily pivot into something lighter (though I cannot stress the “clumsily” factor enough—there’s no seamless transition with a theme like this one)
C. choose to sporadically write about something completely unrelated, making no attempt at a gradual transition (I could just start writing about panda bears and disregard everything I already wrote)
D. end the post here, and hope I have something lighter for tomorrow
Until next time,
