Kids know how to have fun.
They really do.
Whenever I’m hanging out with my two-year old nephew, he makes me envious of the games he plays.
Do you ever play a game with kids and get more enjoyment out of it than they do? Unfortunately, I’ve found myself in this position a few times in my life.
I’ve never once said to myself, “let me go ahead and pull out the old building blocks to make a tower,” but when my nephew starts playing with his building blocks, there’s a weird infantile calling inside of me that’s screaming, “I bet I can build a huge tower with these tiny little building blocks.”
Then, I start building a tower. After the tower reaches about 12-16 inches high, my nephew destroys it, as all children naturally do. I laugh, but there’s a small part of me that’s slightly disappointed, because as much as it pains me to admit it, I was curious to see how high I could’ve gone with it. So, I think to myself, “as soon as my nephew takes his nap, I’ll build the biggest tower this house has ever seen,” but I never do.
If I were to build a tower with my nephew’s building blocks ON MY OWN, WITHOUT MY NEPHEW PRESENT, I’d feel like a crazy person, yet the urge remains.
Until next time,
