The concept of dreaming is unbelievable.
Our dreams can conjure PEOPLE, both real and imagined.
It’s WILD that our brains can have such a vivid memory that we’re capable of recreating not only a person’s appearance but also his/her personality and various other character traits.
Do you realize how insane that is?
Picture somebody you know.
Your consciously-imagined idea of this person is probably not very clear and consistent (because it’s your imagination and not a physical picture). You’re probably having difficulty maintaining a single, steady image of what this person looks like. Dreams annihilate this “lag,” so to speak.
Dreams allow you to have an actual interaction with your imagination. That’s crazy-town! We’re essentially playing the roles of multiple people—ourselves and those characters in our dreams (which are based on our real-life interpretations of the aforementioned). Once our consciousness is asleep, our subconsciousness reigns supreme, allowing us to not only maintain a steady image but also interact with it.
You can have conversations with people who, in real life, are dead. Full interactions with the deceased, in the blink of an eye. Unbelievable.
This also applies to nightmares, however.
(For the past 6 years, every night, I’ve only had nightmares, with three exceptions.)
Our subconscious is so ridiculously smart, but we only actively interact with it during sleep.
I wish I could consciously interact with my subconsciousness. I would ask what makes it summon such disturbing imagery.
Until next time,
