The MJE 4 Week Rule.

What is it?

I’m glad you asked, because in so doing, you’ve given yourself the key to unlocking your full potential.

The MJE 4 Week Rule (not the stock market strategy developed by American-Armenian Trader Richard Donchian, though that’s pretty helpful too) is a philosophy that I’ve created years ago and still follow today.

In addition to my long-term endeavors, specifically those with Bloodclot Films, I force myself to grow as an individual separate from my business, in relation to the short-term. I’ve found that the strongest way to achieve this goal is by following what I call “The MJE 4 Week Rule.” MJE: Michael John Erickson.

Rather than reading many genres sporadically, it’s more beneficial to your development to focus on specific topics, ideally for 4-weeks at a time to maximize efficiency.

Say you read one book between Monday-Thursday about “ancient Greek architecture,” then you read another book between Friday-Sunday about “the life of Woodrow Wilson.” Make up your mind, already. Do you think you’ll really retain the information from either of these books in their entirety if you have no method/strategy? Absolutely not.

You need structure and perseverance. Rather than reading one book about a given topic, read as much as you can about that single topic for 4 weeks. This allows you enough time to essentially master a given subject. 4 weeks is also a short enough time period to allow you to jump between topics relatively quickly. It’s right in that wheelhouse.

When milking a cow, you don’t milk an ounce and then jump to the next cow. You milk that cow until she’s dry– then you move on. The MJE 4 Week Rule allows you to milk as many cows as possible in the shortest amount of time. The best part– the milk never expires.

The MJE 4 Week Rule does not just apply to reading, however.

How do you think the CEO & Co-Founder of Bloodclot Films (yours truly) became the unofficial Tetris World Champion? Do you think I was always just really good at Tetris? Because I wasn’t.

I spent the better part of 4 weeks (this was a tough one) playing Tetris during my morning commute every day. My first few scores were under 10,000, which, for those of you unfamiliar, is utter dogshit. A blind person hitting random buttons would probably score higher than 10,000, just speaking from a statistical perspective.

After reading about Tetris history and strategy constantly, as well as playing the game to further learn the ropes, I improved more rapidly than any Tetris player in the world.

Quickly, I started scoring in the hundred-thousands. If you score in the hundred-thousands in Tetris, you’re doing pretty damn good.

At 999,999 points, you max out. You simply cannot score any more points. This miraculous feat was achieved for the first time by Mr. Harry Hong in 2009—gorgeous Tetris player—I have tremendous respect for him, even if I can now wipe the floor with him in the game.

Maxing out has become a regular occurrence for me. My Tetris platform allows the player to continue playing after maxing out, so I’ve actually broken 1.5 million points, essentially 150% better than the standing (official) Tetris World Champion, newbie Joseph Saelee.

Enough about my Tetris skills. What else is The MJE 4 Week Rule useful for?

To name a few, I’ve mastered not only Tetris, but the ins and outs of the Pharmaceutical Industry, organic chemistry (but not inorganic), World War 1 (just all of it, pretty much), woodworking, fountain pens (as well as the stock trends of all major fountain pen manufacturers), and much, much more.

I’m not selling you a book. I’m not selling you a pill. I am, rather, selling you a better version of yourself, and in so doing I am making the world a better place. Does this make me a philanthropist? Yes, I’d say it does.

Until next time,
