For our inaugural Daily Clot post, I decided to write about something important to us…something that cuts us to the core…something that really gets our hearts pounding—pens.
Pens? What the hell are these guys talking about? They can’t really write an entire blog post about a writing tool, can they?
That’s where your wrong. You see, most people write with pens every day, yet they deliberately choose to purchase pens of the lowest possible quality for “financial reasons.”
What happens next?
They lose these pens because “they’re only like 50 cents apiece,” which is absolutely true. Think about this very carefully. You spend virtually no money on low-quality pens, which you ultimately lose and are forced to replace. Then, the cycle repeats itself a few hundred times.
What are you left with?
You’re left with two things: an endless cycle of crappy pens and debt.
Unless you’d like to live under a bridge and sleep on a mountain of Papermate Ballpoint Pens, I’d listen very carefully to what I’m about to say: go out and buy yourself a Pilot Metropolitan. It’s a fountain pen, and it’s from Japan. In addition, pick yourself up a bottle of Take-Sumi Jet Black Ink, also produced by Pilot in Japan (power to the pen!).
Your writing experience could not be more pleasurable than when you’re sporting the above-mentioned set-up. Every day, I carry my Pilot Metropolitan, and every day I am thankful that I was (and still am) efficient enough to make the decision to write with a fountain pen rather than a string of ball-point pens.
Power to the pen!
My signature is worth more than 50 cents. My signature DEMANDS respect. Graciously, I comply with its terms. The name Michael J. Erickson deserves to be written only with the very best equipment, which I will use for the remainder of my days.
I will bring this pen with me TO THE GRAVE. If I’m cremated, I want the pen cremated with me so our ashes can intermingle with each other. Then, I’d like a bottle of Take-Sumi Jet Black Ink dumped into my urn, and I’d like us to be shaken like a cocktail.
Until next time,
Michael J. Erickson, CEO & Co-Founder
