I bet optometrists get most of their business from cartoon pirates.
Fu*king none of them have both eyes.
Why is that?
What are ALL cartoon pirates missing an eye? Why is that even a stereotype? Is this intended to deter children from pursuing lives of the ocean?
Do we really want to steer our youth away from the absolute freedom that only a seafaring life could ever possibly provide? Is that fair?
Cartoons never depict lawyers with eye-patches. You know why? Because the Boomer generation sees us as fish. By conditioning our mental images of pirates as malnourished men with eye-patches and our mental images of lawyers as being suave and debonair suit-wearers, the Boomers have essentially chummed up the waters. Feast away, fishies! But know this: most pirates actually do have both their eyes, and just one glass of orange juice every day can prevent scurvy completely.
